WE BOTH STARE AT THE SAME OCEAN

WE BOTH STARE AT THE SAME OCEAN

Examining how we spend our time in the pursuit of the quality life through the lens of Venice Beach.

What an odd place.

Bohemian surf spot, home of the legendary “The Doors”, origin of modern skating, and now... the home of the world’s most innovative companies.

But such stark variety is nothing new to California. In fact, I’d argue it’s the very thing that defines the region. And no neighborhood better illustrates this than Venice Beach.

Venice is Dogtown.

It’s empty swimming pools full of skaters. It’s endless waves; lowriders and independent artists. It has a rich history to build upon.

Venice is also Silicone Beach.

It’s a new creative hub for innovative companies like Google, Amazon and Hulu. It has a promising future to look forward to.

These two worlds share more than just a fence. They share an ocean. Both the skater and the product developer wake up and stare at the same ocean, from which they discern endless ways to live the quality life.

This collection explores the quality life and the various ways California has cultivated it.
